SATEAL Conference Saturday 15th March 2008
“Don’t talk while you’re discussing this!” (naldic vol 4 summer 2007 Steve Cooke)
There has been a refreshed call to include speaking and listening on an everyday basis in mainstream classrooms because speaking and listening are now highlighted as key classroom processes. Is this the opportunity for EAL teachers to develop activities, which systematically expand the vocabulary and linguistic functions of the learner of EAL? Can EAL teachers develop a pedagogy whereby subject and language learning are interwoven into all materials?Steve Cooke has long been associated with the Collaborative Learning Project and we are delighted to welcome him to Fife so that he may offer some answers to these questions. We are also equally delighted to welcome back Selma Basha.
